Those of us who remember the popular American sitcom The Andy Griffith Show, which aired from 1960 to 1968 and took place in the fictional town of Mayberry, North Carolina, might also remember the town drug store and soda shop run by Ellie Walker, Andy\’s first girlfriend. Walker’s Drug Store, as it was called, was frequented by the show’s unique cast of characters as both a favorite hang-out and the only place in town you could get a decent ice cream soda.
Walker\’s Drug Store, however, is more than fiction here in North Carolina. Located in the heart of Charlotte, NC, Walker\’s Drug Store has been serving its loyal community, which has since transformed from a small, rural neighborhood into a bustling commercial metropolis, since way before The Andy Griffith Show was even a figment of Sheldon Leonard’s imagination.

Prescription compounding is sometimes necessary for those medications that are available only through composition, such as hormone treatments and some topical creams/ointments. Compounding also offers solutions to medication ingestion and application.

Bone Density Testing
A bone density test measures how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. The higher your content, the denser your bones, hence the less likely they are to break. Walker’s Wellness uses a peripheral device to measure this density from your heel. Though not as accurate as expensive machines used by doctor’s offices, a positive test on our bone density machine may be used as a strong indicator that you have, or are at risk of, osteoporosis. Please call and schedule an appointment with us if you feel you have, or are in danger of developing, osteoporosis.

Flu Shots
Every year at Walker’s Wellness, we provide affordable flu vaccinations, administered by registered nurses, to the general public. The flu vaccination (influenza) is recommended for persons at high risk for serious complications from influenza virus infection. Please consult your doctor to find out if a flu vaccination is right for you! Call for availability.
