Why seniors should visit the gynecologist yearly
“Recent guidelines recommend woman over the age of 30 should receive pap-smears once every three years, confusing many woman to think that yearly visits to the gynecologist are no longer necessary. To the contrary, issues such as urinary incontinence, decreased libido, hot flashes, hormonal changes, vaginal dryness and mood swings are just a few of the special challenges woman face as they age. Breast cancer being the number one cause of cancer in woman, it is important to receive yearly mammograms and breast examinations as well. Treatment is available and can often be managed by your gynecologist when properly monitored. Don’t allow these issues to adversely effect your quality of life. Woman over the age of 30 should still see their gynecologist at least once a year.” – Dr. Dionne Oliver
